Position Description:

Performs functions to drive the principles of cost and general accounting by creating and leading people and the analysis of cost information. Functions as the strategic business partner CFO, President, General Managers, Operations, and Sales teams.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Analyzes data related to contribution margin results which includes inventory consumption, utilization of manufacturing processes, and direct labor absorption
• Collaborates with the other departments to manage, plan, organize and track all direct costs associated with making a product
• Investigates, explains, and supports variance analysis of direct labor, material usage and purchase price
• Participates in monthly financial review meetings
• Identifies and evaluates pricing, margins and purchasing opportunities; actively participates in the pricing process with Sales, Operations and Purchasing teams by analyzing costs, margins and trends
• Assures accurate costing standards are maintained and kept current in all systems; including yearly standard updates tied to the plan/budget
• Prepares or reviews monthly journal entries to provide an accurate representation of financial performance; participates in month-end and year-end accounting close process
• Prepares various components of the monthly financial statement package including balance sheet, income statement and cash flow, including comparison to plan/budget and prior actuals when requested
• Completes various monthly balance sheet account reconciliations
• Oversees cost accounting activities surrounding cost estimates to analyze job and inventory costing standards
• Works with Sales and Marketing to develop various analytics along the lines of business segment, center, channel profitability, or other aspects deemed insightful
• Develops and reviews product pricing with Sales Department
• Prepares and completes key performance indicator reporting/metrics
• Assists in the creation and vetting of the annual plan/budget process
• Provides support and actively engages the Sales, Operations, Purchasing and Accounting departments as needed by attending meetings, conducting annual review of SKU profitability module, cost and trend analysis, special analysis or other projects
• Supports the updating of the SKU-profitability/Standard Costing (cost drivers, activity drivers) models
• Updates the financial model monthly with actual results and new forecasts on an as needed basis to establish financial projections
• Serves as back up to the CFO in maintaining and refining the financial model used for budgeting and forecasting; this includes the income statement, balance sheet, cash flow, debt schedule, bank information, and other pertinent data points
• Performs other functions as assigned

Supervisory/Management Responsibilities:

• Ability to simultaneously lead and manage multiple projects
• Manage cost accounting and accounting functions related to the business
• Maintain staff by orienting and training employees on company rules and job functions
• Assign, prioritize and verify work
• Coach, counsel, motivate, evaluate, and discipline employee(s)
• Enforce systems, policies, and procedures consistently and fairly
• Monitor and process employee attendance records/timecards and PTO in a timely manner
