JPD is searching for a Controller to lead the organization located in Milwaukee, Wisconsin and is seeking an individual with significant experience in real estate property management accounting for a portfolio holding commercial and residential properties.
The organization has been a full-service property development and management company in the Milwaukee metropolitan area for over 30 years. The organization has a portfolio of properties that is a leader in the region for its’ quality buildings in prime sections of the city and surrounding suburban markets.
The individual hired for this position will work closely with the directors of both residential and commercial real estate as well as the CEO/owner. They will have full charge of the accounting operation, including the following areas of responsibility:
Treasury Management
Oversight of Bank and Credit Card Management and reconciliation
Accounts Receivable
Accounts Payable
Intercompany allocations and reconciliations among multiple entities
Payroll Oversight
Financial Reporting – internal, third party, bonding company, annual reviewed and audited financials, partner distribution and financial reporting
Full month-end Close cycle of the portfolio for residential and commercial properties
Coordination with third party accountants/auditors
Filings of various state and local returns
Coordinate annual benefits renewals with employees and carriers.

Pre-requisites for the position include:
Experience Level: 8 years
CPA or similar credentials reflecting a solid foundation of finance and accounting principles.
Bachelor’s degree in accounting
Prior real estate property management accounting role, including practical firsthand experience strongly preferred (Including Treasury management, Property cost allocations, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Construction Loan Draws)
Demonstrates skills and experience related to the full cycle of payroll management, compliance, and accounting.
Proficient technology adoption skills (ability to adopt to various technologies aligned with the needs of the position)
Demonstrated practical experience with Real Estate Property management accounting systems.
AppFolio experience preferred.
Critical thinking and problem resolution
Strong interpersonal and relationship building skills.
